What is presbyopia?

Presbyopia is the natural, age-related loss of near vision that affects nearly everyone after 40. As the lens inside the eye becomes less flexible, it becomes harder to focus on close-up objects such as reading, texting, or threading a needle. Holding menus at arm’s length and squinting at a phone are familiar signs.

How Yuvezzi works

Yuvezzi combines two active ingredients—carbachol and brimonidine—in a single daily prescription drop. Together they gently constrict the pupil, creating a “pinhole effect.” Just as squinting can sharpen a blurry view, a smaller pupil can extend depth of focus and make close-up text clearer for some people.

What studies have shown

Clinical studies supporting approval found that some patients gained meaningful near-vision improvement for several hours without losing distance vision. Results and comfort can vary from person to person, and a prescription drop is not a replacement for glasses in every situation.

Who might benefit?

Yuvezzi is intended for adults with presbyopia who want an alternative or supplement to reading glasses. It does not correct every vision problem, including nearsightedness or astigmatism, and it may not be appropriate with every eye condition or medication.
